Smoking impairs sutures healing, bone stabilisation, oedema resolution. It can be source of mucosal inflammation (inflammation of the inside of the nose).
During rhinoplasty, the skin is undermined, bone are fractured and the deep cartilaginous structure of the nose is modified. In order to optimize the global healing of the nose a 6 weeks smoking stop is advised after a rhinoplasty
