CPAP is mainly used for obstructive sleep apnea not for emphysema patients.
on the other hand COPD patients might need to use a BiPAP, but it depends on your emphysema severity. you need to do an arterial blood gas to check of elevated pCO2. the decision is definitely in your pulmonologist hands so follow up with him.
