Many conditions and diseases can cause pain in the buttocks. These range from skin issues, such as bruising and shingles, to more serious diseases with long-term consequences, such as anal pain or arthritis of the sacroiliac joints.
Injections are indicated in selective cases of sacroiliac joint disease or piriformis syndrome a condition where the nerve get compressed or irritated by the pririformis muscle.
So, all symptoms related to buttock pain must be evaluated in order to precisely identify the cause and prescribe the proper treatment.
