High blood pressure if present should be treated to prevent long-term problems like heart disease, cerebral and vascular disease, and kidney disease. sometimes blood pressure can be managed with low salt diet and lifestyle modifications such as weight loss and exercise, but most of the times it requires anti-hypertensive medications.

Anti-hypertensive medications like any other medications may have side effects and you should alert your doctor when these occur. your doctor will either change the dose of the medication or change the medication for another one.

Shortness of breath is not usually related to anti-hypertensive medications, and is the result of most often of lung or heart problems and sometimes may be due other non serious causes.

I advise you to see your doctor to know exactly what is the cause of your shortness of breath, and If the medication you are taking is in any way contributing to that , he will be able to give another medication that will suit you better.

it is important to treat high blood pressure to prevent its complications. When prescribing a medication, doctors usually weigh side effects to benefits which may vary in between individuals. you are prescribed a bet blocker ( Normatin) which may cause shortness of breath in certain individuals who have or are predisposed to asthma. it is better to go back to your physician and tell him/her about it and he/she may change to another class of antihypertensives that do not have this side effect.
