22; female. I'm experiencing severe pain in the back of my head (near neck) whenever i laugh hard or yell.why is this happening? how can i stop it?

This could  result from compression of the nerve roots or the neck (cervical radiculopathy), which occurs secondary to disc disease (the disc may bulge out from in between the vertebral bodies and indent upon the nerve root in its vicinity). You may also be complaining of associated pain in the shoulder (the trapezius muscle) or shoulder blade and underarms (axillae); this pain may go down (radiate) to the thumb or middle finger, with paresthesias (numbness and/or tingling) and abnormal perception of sensory stimuli in
the same areas. You may also feel some weakness of biceps or triceps muscles.

The best way to find out the exact source of the pain is to have a physician examine you; imaging of the cervical spine may also be required should a disc disease be suspected to affect the area. The management will be decided according to the clinical findings and imaging results.
