Why is it said that reading a book while in the car can cause nausea?

د. Nehme Raad طب أمراض المسالك البولية
Motion sickness is the medical term that defines this condition. Depending on the condition, it could be called car sickness, seasickness or air sickness.
This is due to a disagreement between the eyes and the vestibular system in the ears (the system that has a role in body balance).
When we are inside a boat, or when we are in a car and not looking outside (such as when reading a book), the eyes will tell the brain that the body is not moving. Contrary, the vestibular system will tell the brain that the body is in motion (because it can detect any body movement by the motion of the fluid inside the vestibular system).
This disagreement will cause the motion sickness and you might experience dizziness, fatigue, nausea and even vomiting.
