Is the oozing of the eye dangerous? And what could be causing it?

Eye discharge occurs whenever there is excess fluid in the eye. Eye discharge may be clear and watery, like tears, or in the case of infections, it may be thick and opaque. There are many causes of eye discharge, ranging from infections to allergic reactions. Most causes of eye discharge are not serious and can be easily treated.
other symptoms associated with the eye discherge in addition to color of discharge might give a clue on the possible cause and then treating
usually isn't cause for alarm, but if you notice a difference in consistency, color and quantity of eye gunk, it could indicate an eye infection or disease and then contact your doctor for further tests and treatment
Common eye conditions associated with abnormal eye discharge include:
Watery — viral conjunctivitis, allergic conjunctivitis, eye allergies, dry eyes, eye injury, dacryocystitis.
Crusty — blepharitis, bacterial conjunctivitis and other eye infections, stye.
Sticky and gooey — stye, bacterial conjunctivitis and other eye infections, corneal ulcer, dacryocystitis.
Stringy — dry eyes, corneal ulcer, allergic conjunctivitis, eye allergies
