Yes sun exposure is helpful. This is known as heliotherapy, light therapy or phototherapy, and it is based upon exposure to daylight or to specific wavelengths of light using polychromatic polarised light. In the case of psoriaisis, which is an autoimmune disease (i.e. a disease in which your immune system is over active and "confused" so to speak, so it attacks your own cells and tissues), sunlight acts by locally suppressing the over active immune system. Regarding the use of sunscreens, you are advised not to use them because they reflect or block the sun rays that will help your psoriasis lesions; what you should do is get sun exposure for like 30 min without applying sunscreen; you can of course apply sunscreen afterwards if you are planning to spend longer periods of time under the sun.

On another note, can you please describe where your psoriasis skin lesions appear and list the names of drugs you have already tried? This helps in determining the optimal treatment.
