Orgametril is composed of a synthetic hormone called Lynestrenol. This synthetic hormone possesses many of the effects of progesterone, one of the naturally occurring female hormone, the other being estrogen. Progesterone is also known as the pregnancy hormone, as it prepares the uterus (womb) for carrying a baby. In effect, this drug has a similar influence on your uterus, in addition to suppressing the maturation of follicles in the ovaries and ovulation, and reducing menstrual bleeding. This drug is used to control excessive and irregular menstrual bleeding, especially if there are benign muscular growth inside the uterus.

What you are experiencing upon stopping this medication is known as withdrawal bleeding. It occurs because once the effect of lynestrenol wears off, your menstrual cycle (meaning ovule maturation and ovulation) are reactivated. So yes this is normal and expected. But you are encouraged to keep following up with your treating physician on all your concerns regarding this treatment.
