I have a wart on my penis, its been there for a around a year with no significant change in shape or color...any recommendations to how i can get rid of it?

It might be several things. In case of Herpes, it will look like a small red bump and there will usually be more than one. If its a genital wart (HPV) ,it will usuallly be white and grow bigger, possibly spreading into a cauliflower type mass. if you have genital warts, you must get rid of them as soon as it is possible because genital warts are very contagious!! and if you really want to get rid of genital warts forever, then you should know that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream.
Note that In women HPV virus causes cancer of the cervix and can cause problems in getting pregnant even sterilization. So, Be a gentleman and tell any of the ladies you have slept with, so they can get checked out and get yourself checked out too.

as an OB-GYN specialist, i would like to give you my opinion on this subject, as genital wart is common between males & females, and they have the same pathological origin...
in other words, it is caused by an HPV ( human papilloma virus) -as stated above-
HPV are 2 sub-types,
the high-risk, HPV 16-18-31-33 ....&
the low risk, HPV 6-11...
the high risk will cause cervical cancer in females , whereas the low risk will cause genital warts in both ( penile, vulvar...)
basically when you do have warts, you can also harbor the high risk subtypes in the same time;
so my advice for you is either medical or surgical removal of the wart ( as mentioned above) , and i will encourage you to have the HPV-vaccine, that will protect you from newer infection; also most importantly safe sex-though it does not protect 100 % from sexually transmitted diseases-

I advise you to consult a urologist who can verify if it's a condyloma related to a contamination by HPV. He is also able to treat you by the adequate method depending on the size and the localization of the wart.
