د. Zakia Dimassi طب الأطفال
Victoza acts by increasing insulin secretion in the presence of elevated blood glucose; delays gastric emptying of digested food in order to decrease blood sugar elevation after meals; it also decreases glucagon secretion, the hormone that induces sugar storage into the liver. Common side effects include nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and headache (in up to 10% of people). The only contraindications to the use of this drug are:
Hypersensitivity reaction (like a severe rash, or trouble breathing, or severe vomiting or diarrhea)
Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (so you need to check if any of your family members has had thyroid cancer)
Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (a complex disease that affects many organs).
