Botox is a muscle relaxant. It is used to treat specific muscles of the face that are responsible of the wrinkles mainly in the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes and around the mouth. By relaxing these muscles, the wrinkles fade. Botox works between 4 mths and 8 mths depending on patients.
In the areas of hollowing or for volume enhancement, fillers are used. These fillers can be totally resporbable (hyaluronic acid) in 3 to 6 months or with a slow resorption (polylactic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite) in 6 to 12 mths. We recommend not to use non resorbable synthetic products as their rate of complication is very high (e.g polyacrilamide, silicone).
Natural filler also used could be your own microfat grafted. The result is natural and there is no resorption.
So botox is for wrinkles, and fillers for depressions and volume enhancement. Fine dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid) could be used as an adjunct to fine wrinkles tratment with botox.
Always refer to specialist doctors when dealing with injections to your face.
