Ensure is a high caloric nutritional supplement that we use in children who have poor weight gain and poor caloric intake. I highly recommend that you check with your doctor if your son needs to have ensure.
The common side effects are diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting.
The amount that you can give depends on the status of the child and his caloric intake.
You can give this nutritionnal supplement as long as you want but after taking the medical advice of your physician because if your son has a well controlled diet and he has a weight that follows the curve then no need for supplementation.
