Emotional stress can cause chronic body pain. It can be improved with anxiolytics and psychotherapy but not completly healed.

Do not underestimate the power of the mind over the body. Somatization and conversion disorders are quite common.

Yes, of course to understand the phenomena simply:
Stress releases hormones in the body like cortisol and adrenaline. Cortisol stimulates the breakdown of muscle, it would also inhibit protein synthesis in the muscles.

Adrenaline causes muscle contraction and muscle tension.

Usually, when experiencing stress > release of stress hormones > adrenaline and cortisol increase > muscle tension and contractions increase > more stress > breakdown of protein in the muscles (the fuel of the muscles) > wasting in muscle > muscle pain and tiredness > the muscles can't perform what they should.

Normal stress effects are reversible on muscles but chronic stress by time causes strong strain and tension on the muscles and joints which results in over body pain

Stress increases blood pressure, increases fluid pressure around the joints and the body remains at high strain of sensitivity all the time which causes many effects not only on the muscles but all over the body.

For that, anti-depressants are given to muscle pain induced by stress to lower the cortisol and stress hormone levels, and minimize the effects on muscles due to stress.
