It is possible that your little one has inserted an object into his nostril, such as a tiny toy or a peanut or anything similar. This is a very common habit that toddlers have and that causes a foul smell in the affected side of the nose. You need to have your child seen by a pediatric ear-nose-throat specialist to manage this issue and avoid complications such as aspiration or infection.
