Why do we have chest pains for half a second around the heart area sometimes? What really happens in the body when this occurs?

The areas of the chest, including the heart and lungs, in addition to the diaphragm, are supplied by the same nerve, the phrenic nerve. Pain arising from any of these structures is often "referred" to other regions. For example, any intestinal disturbance causing compression against the diaphragm might cause a patient to feel pain in the left shoulder or anterior chest. This is known as referred pain. Irritation of the phrenic nerve (or the tissues supplied by it) leads to the hiccough reflex. A hiccough is a spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm, which pulls air against the closed folds of the larynx (throat) .

-well for half a second it might be related to either a referred feeling like from the stomach and gazes

-any spasm in the eosophagus

-any accelerated heart beat 

so in conclusion if it is so short and happening from time to tme it is not a big deal . Otherwise need to consult a physician
