it depends on the stage of cancer, the subtype of cancer, the age of the patient, where the metastasis is, and lots of other factors. A localized lung cancer, that is detected early, can be much better than a multimetastatic breast cancer, etc
the two major cause of death in cancer patients is infection induced by the weakening of the immune system by the cancer, and clots (thrombosis)..
