Could be due tongue inflammation, iron deficiency anemia, Vit B12 deficiency (especially if you're a strict vegetarian), geographic tongue (a benign condition), Scarlet fever (infection by the bacterium Streptococcus group A that causes tonsillitis and a particular skin rash, treatment is penicillin), celiac disease (sensitivity to gluten), or Kawasaki disease (a dysfunction of the immune system, Kawasaki occurs in children).
