What is a febrile urinary tract infection and how does it differ from normal UTI?
3 أبريل 2013

د. Judy Matta طب الأطفال
A urinary tract infection is what happens when bacteria get into the urinary tract (the bladder) and multiply. Most UTIs stay in the bladder but if a UTI is not treated promptly, the bacteria can travel up to the kidneys and cause a more serious type of infection, called pyelonephritis (infection of the kidney). This may result in fever and back pain.
Symptoms of a UTI may include an urgent need to urinate,a burning feeling while urinating, feeling of pain or pressure in lower abdomen and a strong odor to the urine. if the infection spreads to the kidneys, the person might have pain in the lower back with fever and chills.
