What happens to the pupils of a person affected with anirida? How can this condition be treated?
1 يوليو 2013

د. Salim Saab طب الأذن والحنجرة
The iris is the main muscle of the eyes, it controls the opening/closing of the pupils after certain stimuli, especially lights. Aniridia is the total or partial absence of the iris, so these functions related to the pupil of this muscle are affected. People with aniridia should not be exposed to light (since their pupils do not react) and cannot see well with bright lights.
It cannot be treated since it's a genetic mutation, but it can be managed and medicated in order to prevent any other complications that might come along the way.
