White streaks on the nail bed, known as leukonychia, may have several causes: it could be: 1- True including: inherited, acquired (a range of liver, kidney, and other diseases, fungal infections etc ), idiopathic (no particular cause) 2- false "pseudoleukonychia", or 3- Combined.
In short, you need to have your fingernails examined to determine the depth of involvement in terms of nail bed layers, and rule out any systemic diseases, and treat accordingly.
