The O - blood type is known to be the universal donor. But new procedures require that only same blood types can give each other blood. Does that mean the universal donor theory doesn't apply anymore?

except for life saving transfusions, we can take from O neg , but better to respect the groups between donors and receivers ,specially if the patient is supoosed to receive multiple transfusions for a chronic blood disease. there are more minor blood groups to be respected usually, but it is not applicable, except in western countries. if the patient is female, but to respect groups to decrease risk of allo-immunisation (it can be dangerous for pregnancy)
