Pregnant women should NOT drink alcohol because the baby might develop what we call "fetal alcohol syndrome". It consists of developmental delay, dysmorphic features (malformations), cardiac and cerebral malformations, behavioral problems, communication problems, etc. The degree of clinical manifestation depends on the time of alcohol intake and the quantity.
