My gum is turning black (black patches or blue).. My dentist said it's a melanin stain and it's not something to be concerned about but my teeth hurt and my gum too.. what should I do?

First of all this coloration could be because of multiple amalgam fillings or metal crowns.Concerning your pain, pigmentation of gums is not painful, it could be another cause.laser treatment can remove stains.You must be consulted by a periodontist(a specialist in gums diseases).
