Marijuana is NOT a treatment for depression. In fact several studies show that marijuana use worsens depression. Marijuana may help you feel more relaxed on the short term but its long term side effects are by far worse than the benefit. 
Long term use of marijuana can cause psychosis (hallucinations and delusions).
Newer antidepressants are almost side effect free.
