The persistent hoarseness is most likely due to the nasal secretions going backwards from the nose and into the pharynx (throat), an entity called post nasal drip, and it usually precipitates vocal cords irritation and throat discomfort, with resulting hoarseness. This may be exacerbated by mouth breathing at night if you're having concomitant nasal blockage. Since your symptoms have lingered for 2 months with no improvement, we may be looking at a superimposed bacterial sinusitis (that is, it started with a viral infection of the sinuses and got complicated by a bacterial infection). I advise you to see your doctor to get a proper physical examination and start antibiotic treatment in addition to intranasal steroids.
