yes Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a serious psychiatric illness. one need a type of psychological therapy called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in addition to medications (which can only be prescribed by a physician). there exist two classes of medications that can help the OCD patient: the antidepressants and the anxiolytics.
