According to many studies, plastic bottles (polycarbonate) are thought to release harmful estrogen-like chemicals ( such as Bisphenol A ) after contact with hot liquids. The liquid's temperature determines how much chemicals are released. So yes, bottled water left in the car can be harmful. Weather it causes breast cancer or not is still not known.
