Genital warts caused by hpv are contagious, to yourself (soon there will be many) and to others. First of all you'd better be aware of this to protect others. Second you can just excise it using a cautery at a dermatologist or a surgeon (a 5 min procedure). Recurrence may occur. Creams and lotions are not so effective.

You can also read about it from CDC:http://www.cdc.gov/std/treatment/2010/genital-warts.htm

You need to see a dermatologist who specializes in venereal diseases (skin diseases of the genital organs). He will prescribe the right kind of treatment.
