I have PCOS and my period is either regulated for a few months or shows up every couple of weeks! I don't want to take OCPs, is duphaston a better alternative in this case?

In Polycystic ovary syndrom (PCOS) there will be no ovulation which in turns causes irregular periods and androgen excess. However the diagnosis has to be confirmed by history, ultrasound and making sure there are no other causes by ultrasound of the ovaries and uterus.
Once the diagnosis is confirmed OCPs is a good option. Progesteron medications (like duphaston or others) will 'regulate" the period but might have some annoying side effects and will not provide contraception or reduce the symptoms of androgen excess (acne, hirsutism).
