I did gastric bypass two years ago, now i am working out and started taking ISOLATE MATRIX Protein , 0 carb 0 fat 0 sugar. please advise if my body absorbs the shake taken or not.

After gastric bypass, protein malabsorption may occur, because under normal circumstances, protein absorption occurs mainly in the duodenum, the 1st and smallest segment of the small intestines, whereas after gastric bypass surgery, the majority of protein absorption is limited to the jejunum and ileum, the last 2 segments of the small intestine. There may also be associated decrease in the levels of certain enzymes (usually secreted by the stomach) responsible for protein breakdown into smaller peptide molecules.
So the components of this product (amino acids and proteins) will be absorbed, but it's difficult to determine to which extent.
