How can we be sure that we are urinating well?
6 يوليو 2013

د. Edward Riachy جراحة الأطفال
You need to have what we call a good "Voiding Hygiene": You should not rush, but you should take your time voiding. Do not push or force with your abdomen. Timed voiding is also important, because the more the bladder is kept empty, the less chance for bacteria to set up an infection.

If you're a female, it is important that you straddle the toilet (imagine sitting on the toilet backwards) with the legs are spread apart. In little girls I instruct them to completely remove the underwear to be able to to this. That way, the urine will have a direct path from the urethra (the hole you urinate out of) into the toilet and avoids urinating into the vagina.

The normal range for an adult urinary output is between 400 to 2,000 mL of urine daily , with a normal fluid intake of about 2 liters per day. Values for normal urinary output may vary slightly between laboratories. A urine output of 500 mL per day is generally considered adequate for normal function.
Factors other than kidney disease that can influence how much you urinate in a day include how much water you consume, the amount of fluid lost in perspiration, your caffeine and alcohol intake and any medications you've taken. If your doctor is concerned about your kidneys, a 24-hour urine collection test is typically ordered.
If no urgency to the toilet ,no burning sensation ,no pain while urinating ,no frequent urination ,full emptiness of the bladder when voiding ,no blood discharge in the urine ,normal yellow color in urine ,the urine is clear not turbid ,all of these presentations means you are urinating well .
