Hello Doctors. I am a man, 53 year old. I get swollen feet, especially after eating tomato sauce. What may be the cause?

If your feet begin to swell, you may be suffering from a condition known as edema. Edema is caused by fluid getting trapped in the space between cells, also known as the extracellular space. This is most common in the extremities, particularly the ankles and feet, because gravity naturally pulls liquid down to these areas.
Eating too much salt can result in mild cases of edema. When you eat too much salt, the amount of sodium in your body rises. Because abnormally high sodium concentrations can be dangerous, your body will hold onto more water in an attempt to dilute this excess sodium. The increased liquid volume causes small blood vessels, known as capillaries, to leak some of the excess fluid into the space between your cells, causing edema.
these are other general causes of edema that also might one be related to your case depending on other symptoms:
-serious condition of the kidney, heart, liver or blood vessels
-Eating a poor diet high in salt and carbohydrates
-Taking birth control or hormone replacement therapy pills(for women)
-Pregnancy(women)
-Sodium retention
-Muscle injury
-Varicose veins
-History of phlebitis
-Allergic reactions
-Neuromuscular disorders
-Trauma
-Laxative abuse
-Diuretics abuse
-Drug abuse
