Dr. Zakia, thank u for ur answer yesterday regarding the toxoplasmosis test, i tried to reply but couldnt. It is actually the IgG that gave around 339 Ul ml. Can i still try to get pregnant soon?

Toxoplasmosis is mainly acquired by ingestion of food or water that is contaminated by mature oocysts of T.gonddi shed by cats (in their feces), or by undercooked meat containing tissue cysts. Primary acute infection occurs in many individuals and is usually little or no symptoms (if symptoms exist they are usually in the form of "lymphadenpoapthy" or enlarged +/- tender lymph nodes, which is a common manifestation to many other infections so you cannot tell for sure that this is Toxo unless you do the blood test); this is followed by a latent period that may persist for life.
This 339 IU/ml IgG level is elevated &could indicate either a previous exposure or a recently acquired (&thus active) infection; in order to determine which case it is, you need to do a Toxoplasma IgM level (the indicator of active infection). If the IgM turns out to be elevated you need to consult your obstetrician on attempting to conceive -you may have to wait for sometime before doing so IF you have active infection. Treatment is usually required in case you are pregnant.
