Does this cancer vaccine for women really works? Has it been helpful?
7 مايو 2013

د. Zakia Dimassi طب الأطفال
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a virus notorious for causing cervical cancer in women who catch the virus. The vaccines available on the market target a good number of HPV strains implicated in cervical cancer but not all of them, and blood studies after vaccine administration have shown good tigers of antibodies against these strains to be elevated (which means the body has developed immunity against them and can therefore destroy them if they attack). How long will these antibodies last is yet to be determined. Another issue is that these vaccines have not been yet shown to prevent cervical cancer itself; further studies down the line are needed especially that the vaccine has only been available for a few years.
