Does the human brain stop growing at age 18? If yes, what happens to the brain after that?
17 يناير 2014

د. Rania Mousa الطب العام
Brain is the central nervous system of all animals. The development of the brain involves the addition of numerous neurons to it before and after birth. At the age of two years, a child's brain is 80 percent the size of an adult. The brain continues developing in human beings until the age of 25 when it is considered fully developed.
But as any part of your body, for example your muscles will stop growing at an age but what happens after that, if you don't use the muscle, it may shrink or weaken and the same counters for a brain after this age. If you use it, meaning in solving, in memory exercising, in reading ,etc, it will become stronger and notice that a brain changes its appearance or structure of the folds by how much information you are getting in. On the other side, if no use, it will deteriorate with time.
and for that it is advised always to remain practicing ones brain to protect from memory loss problems .
