Clean with emollient cream, avoid soap, use lukewarm water, dry the area gently, use anti-yeast cream plus steroid or anti-infective cream according to the case.

Proper hygiene with frequent washing and drying of the skin is an important preventive measure. Applying antibiotics creams containing metronidazole and an antifungal (clotrimazole cream) or low-potency steroid creams can help clearing the condition
